Rhodri S. Lloyd, PhD, FNSCA is a Professor of Paediatric Strength and Conditioning and the Head of the Centre for Applied Sport Science & Medicine at Cardiff Metropolitan University. He is also the co-founder of the Youth Physical Development Centre, which provides after-school strength and conditioning provision to ~140 young athletes. His research focuses on the influence of growth and maturation on athletic development and injury risk reduction in youth populations. He has published more than 170 peer-reviewed manuscripts, 35 book chapters and three textbooks on the topics of paediatric strength and conditioning and long-term athletic development, including the ACSM Essentials of Youth Fitness, which is the ancillary text for the ACSM Youth Fitness Specialist certificate. He holds professional strength and conditioning qualifications with both the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and the UK Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA), has been recognized nationally and internationally for his contributions to the field, and in 2021 was made a fellow of the NSCA.
