Mike McNamee is Professor of Applied Ethics, and Director of the Research Institute for Ethics and Law, Swansea University, Wales, UK, and Professor of Ethics and Integrity at KU Leuven, Belgium. He has dual backgrounds in philosophy and in sport sciences. Over the last 30 years he has pioneered the Sports Ethics as a research field. His published works include Research Ethics in Exercise, Health and Sport Sciences (2006) Sports, Virtues and Vices (2008) and Sport, Medicine, Ethics (2016), Bioethics, Genetics and Sport (2018). He is the Founding Editor of the international journal “Sport, Ethics and Philosophy (2007-17), and Co-Editor of Routledge’s “Sport Ethics” book series (1998-) comprising more than 30 volumes. His work has been funded by various national research councils and the European Commission, in topics ranging from anti doping, and eating disorders in sports, and human enhancement ethics and policy. He is Programme Director of Erasmus+ funded Master Degree in Sport Ethics and Integrity (2016-25). Mike has served as an expert ethicist for a number of organisations including UN Office on Drugs and Crime, and the IAAF Steering Group on transgender eligibility. He is a member of the Ethics Expert Group of the World Anti Doping Agency.
