Franco Impellizzeri is a Professor in Sport and Exercise Science and Medicine at the Faculty of Health of the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) where he teaches research methods. Franco started his career in a private Corporate Sports Research Centre (Italy), providing support to elite and professional athletes, and conducting research on training and testing. Impellizzeri also worked for 10 years in a clinical setting (orthopedics) as a Senior Research Fellow and Lower Limb Research Group Leader in the R&D Department at the Schulthess Clinic in Zurich, Switzerland. Impellizzeri is a member of the boards of various scientific journals and currently serves as the editor-in-chief of Science and Medicine in Football journal. His main research areas and interests now include research methods (meta-research) and sport epidemiology. Franco has several publications in sports science and orthopedics and author of book chapters. He is a fellow of the European College of Sport Sciences, managing board member of Peer Community In Health & Movement Sciences, member of the STORK (The Society for Transparency, Openness, and Replication in Kinesiology) and member of the Australasian Epidemiological Association. Impellizzeri has also collaborated with professional clubs, as well as national and international sports governing bodies.
