Dr Pelliccia is Chief of Cardiology of the Institute of Sports Medicine of the Italian National Olympic Committee, and professor of Patho-physiology in Sports Medicine, at Post-Graduate School in Sports Medicine La Sapienza University of Rome, Italy. He has been the Chief of the Medical Staff of the Italian National Team at the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City 2002, Turin 2006, Beijing 2008, Vancouver 2010, London 2012. He completed his medical studies in the University Medical School La Sapienza in Rome, 1969 to 1975, where he also attained the Specialization in Cardiovascular Disease, 1979 and subsequently in Sport Medicine, 1983. He is the first author of over 100 papers published in peer-reviewed journals and Editor of several cardiology textbooks. He was chairman of the Sports Cardiology Section of the EACPR of the European Society of Cardiology from 2006-2008.
