Gary Bye is currently the Safeguarding Manager at the International Tennis Federation. Previously a law enforcement professional, Gary was involved in several national and international investigations to protect children from abuse and exploitation especially by perpetrators using the Internet and technology. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Coaching Science and has worked internationally with children and young people in diverse sporting environments. These have ranged from beginner participation and inclusion projects, tournaments, and events to supporting performance development at elite level by focussing on athlete safeguarding and player care. Since being appointed in 2019 Gary has used this experience to develop the ITF’s new Safeguarding Strategy and Policies. These are supported by practical safeguarding training for Coaches, Officials, Parents and Players to promote safe and inclusive environments for all children and adults participating in international tennis.
