Matti is currently the Deputy Director, Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) . The Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement department was established to lead & support Australia’s sporting industry to understand a successful high performance culture includes, athletes finding the right balance between wellbeing and engagement activities outside of training & competition environments to help enable optimal transitions in, through and out of elite sport. Prior to her appointment to the AIS in January 2018, Matti was the Director of Mental Edge Consulting, an organisation that specialised in team and organizational culture, wellbeing, performance enhancement, professional development services and support systems for high performance sporting organizations . Matti has over 15 years’ experience working with Australia’s top elite and professional sports at both a strategic and operational level. A qualified psychologist she has a broad expertise in the design, implementation and ongoing management of national programs in the area wellbeing, professional development services and support systems for high performance sporting organisations which has included several AFL Clubs, Cricket Australia, Golf Australia, Netball Australia, Tennis Australia, AFL and the Australian Cricketers Association. Matti is currently a Director for the Tennis Victoria Board, the Independent Chairperson for the Australian Rugby Union Player Development Program committee, and a member of Cycling Australia’s Nominations and Remunerations’ Committee. Previously Matti has been the General Manager of People & Culture at the St Kilda Football Club in 2014.
