Dr Lombe Mwambwa is Secretary General at the National Organisation for Women in Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation (NOWSPAR) in Zambia. Her research and practice are focused on issues of inequalities within sport and on the use of sport to address societal inequalities in Southern Africa. Her areas of interest include women, leadership, and protection from violence. She has almost 20 years` experience working with governors of sport associations, leaders of sport for development organisations, and sport policy makers in Southern Africa and in international contexts. Her academic background includes development, women’s law, and sports management. She has been part of sport departments at the University of Chichester and the University of Zambia where she has undertaken teaching and research related to sport and physical education. She is currently a member of the Institute of Sport Science at University of Lausanne and Research Director at the Global Observatory for Gender Equality and Sport.
