Babette Pluim, MD, MPH, PhD, is a Consultant in Sports and Exercise Medicine and Chief Medical Adviser of the Royal Netherlands Lawn Tennis Association. She is Team Physician of the Dutch Davis Cup and Fed Cup teams and Tournament Physician at the ATP and WTA tournaments in ́s Hertogenbosch and Rotterdam (the Netherlands). Dr Pluim is Deputy Editor of the British Journal of Sports Medicine, a member of the ITF Sport Science and Medicine Commission and served for 8 years on the WADA Health, Medical and Research Committee. In 2015, she served as member of the IOC expert panel on the Saturated Sports Calendar. Dr. Pluim has written more than 70 peer- reviewed publications, has a PhD thesis on “The Athlete’s Heart” and a Masters in Public Health. She is author of the book ‘From Breakpoint to Advantage: a Practical Guide for Optimal Tennis Health and Performance’ with Marc Safran. In 2009 the Dutch edition was published, entitled ‘Ace or Brace – a Handbook for Healthy Tennis’.
