Chris comes to safeguarding from a sport for development perspective through his work with sports partners around the world across the last 20 years. His current role has required extensive engagement with a range of sports governing bodies, national, regional and international, that are seeking to build their sport for development capabilities. A key component of that has been working with them to put in place realistic and practical safeguarding steps, often starting from a low base of exposure to positive safeguarding practices. In addition, many of these governing bodies are operating in low resource environments and have limited case management support options in their wider social service ecosystem. Successes and failures across this work have created some learning around how to embed good safeguarding practice across sport at all levels. Chris is currently based on Laos in South-East Asia working for a non-profit to manage a global social impact partnership with an international federation that seeks to evidence positive impact for young people around the world through sport.
