Margot Putukian is the Chief Medical Officer for Major League Soccer and the former Director of Athletic Medicine, Head Team Physician, and Assistant Director of Medical Services at Princeton University. Dr. Putukian earned her BS in biological sciences at Yale University and earned her MD at Boston University in Boston. She is board certified in internal medicine and sports medicine. Dr. Putukian is a past president of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, has served as a team physician for the US Men’s National Lacrosse team, and currently serves as a Team Physician for the US Women’s National Soccer teams. She serves as a senior advisor on the NFL Head Neck & Spine Committee, the IOC Mental Health Work Group, the USOPC Mental Health Task Force, the FA Research Task Force and the Clinical Sports Medicine Leadership Committee for the American College of Sports Medicine. She has been and is an invited participant, co-author, and association member of the International Concussion in Sport Group. Dr. Putukian has presented on a variety of sports medicine topics at annual meetings, Team Physician, Advanced Team, and International Team Physician courses. With more than 320 unique presentations, and over 250 published articles, Dr. Putukian has provided ongoing scholarly work. Dr. Putukian has been a co-author on several Team Physician Consensus Statements, the AMSSM Position Statements on Mononucleosis, Concussion and Mental Health and the IOC Mental Health in Elite Athletes Statement, written several book chapters and been an editor for 5 sports medicine books.
