Prof Tim Meyer completed his MD and his MA in sport science at the universities of Hanover and Göttingen, Germany. Meyer wrote his doctoral thesis about the therapeutic efficacy of endurance training in panic patients (1997). His habilitation thesis at the University of Saarland was about applications of gas exchange measurements (2006). In 2007 he became chair of the Institute of Sports Medicine, University Paderborn. In October 2008 he was called as chair of the Institute of Sports and Preventive Medicine of Saarland University. Meyer ́s main areas of research are clinical exercise physiology, recovery and training prescription with a special focus on football. Under his supervision, several training studies were conducted in elite and recreational athletes (altogether over 150 publications in internationally referenced peer-reviewed journals). Besides his university work, Meyer has worked as team physician for the German soccer association (DFB) since 2001 as part of the national squad ́s medical service team. Finally, he is chair of the medical committee of the German FA and member of the UEFA medical committee.
