Dr Arendt is Professor and Vice Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, University of Minnesota. She has served as medical director for men and women’s intercollegiate athletics at the University of Minnesota for 30 years, and continues as a team physician for select female sports. She is also a nationally recognized speaker on knee conditions with an emphasis on those that are more frequent in females in particular ACL injuries and patellofemoral concerns. In addition to her university responsibilities, she represented the University of Minnesota and the Big Ten Conference on the NCAA Safeguards Committee for 6 years 1990-1996. She was on the President’s Council for physical fitness in sport 1992-2000. She was also head team physician for Women’s USA Hockey for the World Games in 1992 and 1994. She has served on the faculty of several Advanced Team Physician courses. She continues to be a strong advocate for sport safety, and establishment of more evidence based criteria for return to sports after knee injury/surgery.
