David is Emeritus Professor of Pharmacy, Liverpool John Moores University, UK. He has a PhD in Pharmacology and has published over 150 research papers. He edits the book “Drugs in Sport”, first published by Routledge, in 1988, now in its eighth edition. Since 2001, he has been involved in the development and delivery of medical and pharmacy services at major sporting events. He was a member of the Medical Services Group of the Organising Committee for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games with responsibility for education and training of the pharmacy workforce. He also worked on the medical services team for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Currently David is a consultant and advisor for the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the International Testing Agency (ITA) and UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) and has collaborated on the development and delivery of education programs for these and other international organisations.
