Peter Krustrup is Professor of Sport and Health Sciences at the University of Southern Denmark, and Honorary Visiting Professor of Exeter University, United Kingdom. He is 53 years old and lives in Frederikssund, Denmark. His main research areas are performance, recovery, training and testing in elite football and other team sports, and fitness and health effects of sports participation across the lifespan. He is a UEFA Pro-Licensed football coach and has worked as Assistant Coach and Fitness Coach for the Danish Women’s National Team, and as Fitness Coach for male players in the Danish Superliga. He has published 425 peer-reviewed scientific articles, 35 book chapters and several books, including “Football as Medicine–Prescribing Football for Global Health Promotion”. He has contributed to the development of the evidence-based football concepts “Football Fitness”, “11 for Health”, “FIT FIRST multisport”, “Football for the Heart”, “FC Prostate” and “Football Fitness After Breast Cancer”. Peter established the Football is Medicine platform in 2018 and is leading the FiM group of 225 researchers from 22 countries. He has won several national and international sports innovation and research dissemination awards, including “The Men’s Health Award”, “SDU Research Dissemination Award”, and the “UEFA Grassroots Gold Award 2022/2023”.
