Keijo Häkkinen works as professor emeritus in the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences, University of Jyväskylä, Finland. He has been qualified for the scientific competence for the academic chairs of the professorships in Biomechanics in 1989, Exercise Physiology in 1991 and Science of Sport Coaching and Fitness Testing in 2001 at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. His research field is quite broad, but the major projects include 1) acute neuromuscular and endocrine responses and fatigue to various resistance exercise protocols as well as the recovery process after the protocols, 2) short and long-term neuromuscular and endocrine adaptations during strength training and power training and 3) combined strength and endurance training in men and women as well as in various athlete groups. He has published about 450 international peer-reviewed research articles, 60 articles in refereed congress proceedings and chapters in books, 10 refereed reviews and co-authored books, about 180 domestic publications and 10 co-authored books. He has given about 120 presentations in international scientific congresses and seminars and contributed to the organizing process of over 30 International Congresses throughout the world. He is a current chairman of the International Scientific Committee of International Conference Series on Strength Training (ICST).
