Gloria Viseras is a Spanish National who competed for Spain in artistic Gymnastics from 1977 to 1980. She was senior National champion in 1980 and was one of the only 9 women who represented Spain in the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games. Gloria has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Media and English from the Houston Baptist University where she competed in the NCAA league. After a severe injury she retired from sport and started her professional career working for a NASA Contractor in Houston as an Editor and Technical Writer. Several years later she moved to Germany where she lived and worked until she returned to Spain in 2000. In 2012 Gloria placed a formal complaint for child sexual abuse against her former National Team Coach but her case was archived due to the statute of limitations. She was then sued by her abuser for alleged “damage to his honor”, a chase she won at the Spanish Supreme Court six years later. Since her disclosure, she has worked on safeguarding and child protection at national and international levels and has been a leading international voice and advocate for the implementation of a safe sport culture and measures from grassroots to elite. Gloria worked for several companies both in and out of the sports sector until she joined the Spanish Basketball Federation in 2014. In the summer of 2020, she joined FIFA as Senior Event Safeguarding Manager to lead the implementation of safeguarding and child protection for all of FIFA’s Events and Competitions.
