Janice is a lawyer who specialises in governance and integrity issues and an Associate Consultant to Safe Sport International, working with National Governing Bodies and International Federations to develop their safeguarding systems and to educate their teams. She has extensive experience of safeguarding both at national and international level. In her previous role as General Counsel at a national governing body, the British Equestrian Federation, Janice was responsible for all integrity issues, including safeguarding, and lead on the restructuring of the federation wide safeguarding system. She is familiar with the international sporting landscape, acting as Board member and Chair of the Audit and Compliance Committee at the FEI (the International Equestrian Federation), as President of the IPC Anti-Doping Tribunal, and Deputy President of the IPC Judicial Commission, and has supported a number of International Federations in meeting their safeguarding challenges. She sits on the UNICEF Advisory Board for the International Safeguards for Children in Sport and is an Arbitrator– Specialist on the UK’s National Safeguarding Panel. She is also a member of the Audit and Assurance Board of the National Police Chiefs’ Council (responsible for UK national policing) and Legal Director of the governance consultancy, Governance United.
