Diane Huffman is a community development consultant with extensive experience in building partnership and rights-based governance practices within the sport and recreation sectors. She focuses on equitable, fair, and safe sports ‘for all’, but particularly opportunities for girls and women. She believes in partnership and collaboration to achieve success.Diane’s community development experience has enabled organizations and advocacy groups to challenge policy and impact behavioural change. Through her efforts as a Consultant to the Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee, she has played an influential role on national and regional sport policy changes in Southern Africa and Asia affecting gender mainstreaming, human rights, and women’s leadership within regional governance structures, Ministries of Sport, National Olympic Committees and National Sport Associations in countries such as Botswana, Malawi, Vietnam, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. She has been involved with groups such as a City for All Women in Ottawa Canada, providing opportunities for all women to take part in municipal decision-making processes within their community. Diane acted as advisor to the Chair of the Gender Committee of the UN Sport for Peace and Development Program and played an advisory role in the initiation of the Africa Women Sport Network. Presently, as the president of WomenSport International IWSI), Diane is working with a strong team ensuring the strength of WSI is moving the agenda of increasing leadership and safe participation opportunities for women in sport.
