Georgia is a former elite gymnast who represented New Zealand in women’s artistic gymnastics at the 2006 Commonwealth Games and additionally competed internationally in aerobic gymnastics. She now dedicates her time to governance, abuse, gender, coaching and athlete rights in gymnastics as a New Zealand-based sports scholar. Georgia’s research has focused on the culture and the history of women’s gymnastics and her new book Degrees of Difficulty: How Women’s Gymnastics Rose to Prominence and Fell from Grace, was published by the University of Illinois Press in June 2021.
