David Mottram has published over 150 research papers during his career as an academic pharmacist and has had the privilege of acting as an advisor and consultant for the World Health Organisation (WHO). He is the editor of the book “Drugs in Sport”, first published in 1988, now in its seventh edition. Since 2001, David has been involved in the development and delivery of medical and pharmacy services at major sporting events. In particular, he was on the LOCOG Medical Services Group for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games with responsibility for education, training and management of the pharmacy workforce at the Games. He was also on the medical services team for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. David has developed and delivered education programs in sports pharmacy both in the UK and internationally. These include, Anti-Doping Education for Healthcare Professionals within WADA’s Anti-Doping Education and Learning (ADEL) platform and the International Testing Agency (ITA) International Doping Control Officer Training Program. He was a member of the IOC Expert Group for the development of the Olympic Model Formulary. Currently he is an Accredited Advisor for UKAD and a consultant for Global Drug Reference Online (Global DRO) and is a Program Director for the IOC Certificate Course on Drugs in Sport.
