Dr. Vernec has been the medical director of the World Anti-Doping Agency since 2009. He is a graduate of the University of California, San Diego (Bioengineering) and Canada’s McGill University (Medicine). Dr. Vernec has extensive experience working as a sport physician at many levels including acting as the team physician for many professional and national sport teams in professional soccer (football), national Athletics and Judo teams and at numerous international sport events including three Olympic Games. He has a passion for sport and believes that it should be inclusive while ensuring that athletes engage in fair competition. It takes the collaborative efforts of many in the international sport and medical communities to tackle the challenges in the Anti-Doping field to provide the best possible sporting environment.
